Top 50 Contest FAQ
General:
- The Top 50 Wedsites Contest was started in December 1999 as a way for personal wedding site owners to show off their
site, and be awarded by votes from their site. The contest is ongoing and the votes will be reset to zero every so often to keep the rankings changing.
- The 10 sites for each rerank will be given an award to place on their site.
- The list refreshes every 5 minutes with the current rankings. You must refresh your browser to see the updates.
- Each site must have one vote to show up on the list.
- New listings will have this image
 next to them for 24 hours.
The List:
- Previous is the ranking of the site at the last list reset.
- Votes IN are the number of votes the site currently has. This number
increases with clicks to the link given to each site when they joined the list. The vote must be coming in from the wedsite to the list be counted.
- Votes OUT are the number of times a viewer of the Top 50 list has
clicked on a site on the list, and left the list to view it. It gives the owner an idea of how many hits they are receiving from the list.
Voting/Cheating:
- Each IP address can vote ONE time site per site, per day. Any more votes from that IP address will not be counted.
- It is considered cheating for a user to vote multiple times for their site,
even if the votes are not counted. A cheat log is made with attempted multiple votes and those members will be removed from the list.
- The votes should be from people visiting and enjoying your site. Please do not "Spam" or email groups to get votes.
Banners:
- The link to you banner must be a direct link to a .jpg or .gif. A link to the
page it is on will not work. For example, a link should look like this:
http://www.mysite.com/bannerpage/banner.jpg
- Standard banners size is 468 x 60. The largest banner allowed on the list
is 500 x 300. Anything larger than that will be resized and the image may be distorted.
- Only the top 10 sites will have their banner shown. This is to keep loading time to a minimum.
- Please keep the banner URL up to date. If a broken link appears, it will be
removed. You can add it back in at any time.
Verification:
- At this time verification is not required to join the list. Every site submitted is accepted.
- We reserve the right to remove sites that are inappropriate for the list or sites with a bad URL.
- Sites in this list must be personal web sites with at least part of the site
dedicated to a wedding or wedding planning. They must contain a graphic linking to the list. No vendor sites. No obscenities.
Site of the Moment:
- The Site of the Moment is located at the top of the list and updates with a new site at random.
Graphics:
- For additional graphics, click here. Feel free to create your own banners
but please make it known that clicking on that link will be placing a vote for your site. If you do create a graphic, let me know so I can share it with others!
- If you create a text link as a vote, that link must specify that a vote is
being placed. (example: Click here to Vote for this Site!)
